About

This blog was created by Miha Feus, Ayse Gokce Bor and Marlene Kettner (students of the Umeå Institute of Design) for a course in Service Design. The project is about "Learning through participation" of Swedish.  Where and how do Newcomers learn Swedish? How could learning be encouraged more in everyday situations outside the classroom? What is the role of people - friends, lovers, teachers, colleagues, chance encounters, rituals, in teaching and learning?

We are interested in what both Learners and Guides( what we call potential everyday-teachers) can do to learn and teach Swedish. And what is the role of the environment: How can little interventions, and special perspectives help to break the ice, and start you speaking Swedish?

We will try to post a new little task every day - so you are welcome to follow our "course"! If you have ideas, we would also invite you to suggest new tasks. We would be very thankful to hear from you what tasks worked well for you! What are obstacles, either with the blog, the task, the people? In the discussions section, we are posting some questions that cross our minds during our project - please comment or post questions that you think should be considered!

Please don´t hesitate to drop us a line, write your stories, ideas and opinions on this page, we are really thankful for any sort of comment, either public, or via email!

If you have an idea for a task, we would also be very interested to hear it, and post it.
